Third-Generation Language Tools

The 3GL tools market includes both emerging and traditional programming languages, such as Java, C++, COBOL, and FORTRAN. 3GL products include all third-generation (object-oriented and nonobject) procedural language tools, such as edit, compile, and debug tools, that are used in the context of an integrated 3GL development environment. C++, Java, and COBOL continue to be the primary 3GL languages that developers use to produce business technology solutions. The following are representative vendors and products in this market:
